Japanese Sister Cities

Many councils in Australia have a sister city relationship with cities in Japan, allowing a unique opportunity to communicate their concerns about whaling in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary.

Encourage your council to develop their relationship with respective Japanese sister cities, and to raise the issue of the threats to Australia's humpback whales and ask their counterpart cities to help secure the protection of your whale icon.

Sydney City, is one such council that has taken the opportunity to write to the Mayor of their sister city Nagoya, expressing their concerns and asking that their position be conveyed to the Japanese Prime Minister and Japanese Government.

Below is a letter from Sydney City Council that you can use as an example for your local council to contact their sister city.
